The Bracewell Reunion was begun in 1938 in order to bring back together, at least one day each year, the wonderfully close and loving group of children and grandchildren of Joseph Marion and Emmaline Bracewell. In that year nine of the children were still living (3 died in their early years). There were forty eight surviving grand-children, the oldest of which was then 55 years old and the youngest 17. The early reunions were occasions for the grandchildren to show their respect for their grandparents and parents and remember, with gratitude, the examples they had set with their lives - good and simple folks who worked hard, who loved their God, loved their children and loved their fellow man. Joseph Marion and Emmaline's children are present only in our memories today. Their grandchildren are well represented. It is the grandchildren to whom we give special recognition today.
Joseph M. and Emmaline Bracewell on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Their settling in the Bedias Community and becoming charter members of Mt. Pleasent Church. This monument placed June 3, 1973, by their descendents who met here to pay homage to the memory of these, revered ancestors and their children William Barto, Joseph Benjamin, Andrew Calvin, Walter W., Uriah C., Earnest Frank, Emma C., Elbert Lee, Ida Abbie.
May this testimonial inspire others to emulate the good example of these who have gone before. |
