Dear Joe:
Ronnie Bracewell indicated that he sent you the same information that he sent to me.
He has done a fine piece of work in my opinion. I suggested to him that he has the makings of a book on the Bracewell family. I don’t know the economics of publishing such a book, but I’m sure many genealogical libraries would want a copy. So would many Bracewell descendants. But not all of them, as you know very well from trying to extract information for the Bracewell Reunion. I’m sure its like pulling eye teeth.
“Robert Bracewell and His Descendants” in America would be of interest to several thousand people.
Ol’ Ronnie could have saved himself a good bit of trouble if he had looked up the definition of “clerk” in a good dictionary. It is one of those words that has changed its meaning. Today we would say “cleric” or “clergyman” to distinguish between a grocery clerk, or a County Clerk. But in the 1660s the words “minister” and “clerk” were synonymous. So there was one generation fewer than Ronnie surmised and he will have to change his chart and his notes.
It is almost time for me to retire from active practice. I will be eligible for Social Security in 1981 (age 62) so we are making preparations. Our home went into escrow this week and I have a buyer for my dental practice. When all is settled we will be looking for a new location. As reluctant as I am to leave this indulgent climate, we are thinking of coming home to Texas.

On the happy side, at last I’ll get to attend a Bracewell reunion. My parents used to urge me to go with them, but I always declined on the grounds that anything my parents found enjoyable would be of no interest to me. We grow old too soon and smart too late.
Best wishes to you and yours for 1981.
