Dear Joe:
Today I received from the National Archives the CSA service record of John I. Mims. As you will recall, he was the husband of Sarah Ann Bracewell, the father of three, the son-in-law of Wm. Bracewell and the brother-in-law of Joseph Marion Bracewell. He enlisted at the same time as JMB and served in the same unit. I had also requested the records of William R. Barnes, but the Archives sent the records of a man named Garrison in error, so I will try again.
The photostatic copies are too poor to try to reproduce, but I will give you their essence. If you want more, I am enclosing a copy of my request form so that you can apply to the archives for your own copies. The records consist of 13 entries as excerpted below:
