Dear Joe,
Many thanks for your letter and for the enclosures. I’m sorry we couldn’t be with you yesterday. Hope all of you had a good time. Will call John and get a detailed eyewitness report. Also had a letter today from Aunt Buna Smith. She is glad the “younger” generation is carrying on the tradition of the reunion, but deeply sad that so many from earlier years are now missing. I’m sure it’s that way for many in the “older” generation.
Glad you sent the map showing the location of the “old Bracewell place”. I had presumed that it was north of the “Bedias Road” and nearer to Mt. Pleasant church.
I particularly appreciate your thoughtfulness in enclosing the memorial resolution for Grandpa Bracewell. I had never seen it. It’s a very fine tribute to a very fine man.
Please keep me in mind if Lynn Bracewell ever surfaces. If she has the “old manuscript” that Bill Peevy mentioned I would like to have a copy of it. Might save hours of reading microfilms and guessing as to who is who.
Have been working on Grandma Bracewell’s mother’s family (Ignacio Simms & Nancy Pankey.) Finally found them on 1850 census in Natchitoches, La.
Frustrating at this distance. Wish I could spend a little time in Clayton Library, U of T Library and a few county courthouses.
Again, many thanks for thinking of us. If you’re ever out this way, we would enjoy seeing you. We live near S. F. airport.
Best wishes,
(signed) Chas
