Dear Dr. Heath:

Glad to hear from you, and thanks for those papers as I will show them to our ken.

My Dad told me how they had so hardo of a time during the war even he was small, and to he was along side of we called him Granpaw Barns and Barns got shot in the mouth knocking out some teeth and Grand Daddy Bracewell reached in his mouth and got the rifle ball out of his mouth.

I will talk to my Sister Winnie next time I see her and see if she knows any more than I do and if so will let you know.

Well time is moving so fast, my wife and I were married 49 year Aug. 4 we married when we were only kids I was 16 and she was 15. we have 5 Grand Children and $ Grate Grand Children.

Write when you can.

As always,

(signed) W. T. Bracewell

Notation added by Charles Heath:

Joe, you may want to contact cousin Winnie.
I wrote to Travis on the presumption that
Uncle Barto’s children would know more as
he was eldest.

That postmaster at Skipperville is a good
friend indeed and deserves an A+ for
hospitality.
