Dear Joe:

Obtained J.M.B.’s military service record from National Archives in Wash. Lawrenceville is in Henry Co, just east of Dale Co.

War was a year old when he enlisted. He served 3 years. Will try to obtain a history of 39th Reg’t, Ala infantry, also 22nd Reg’t.

The Gen. W. T. Sherman here is old Wm. Tecumsuh Sherman, who laid waste to Georgia & South Carolina and caused so much bittnerness in the South that a Republican stood no chance to be elected until 1952. When U. S. Grant became president, he made Sherman his chief of staff.

Hope you will keep J.M.B.’s service records as part of Reunion records.

Best to you!

(signed) Chas
