b. ca. 1649, d. ca. 1713

Jane Bracewell, b. ca. 1649, married first Robert Stokes in 1667 and was listed as daughter of Robert, minister. (Marriages of Isle of Wight, 1628-1800). Robert Stokes was executed in March, 1676 by order of Gov. Berkeley for having taken part in Bacon’s Rebellion. (Henning, Vol. 2, p. 550). Jane married a second time to Robert Eley ca. 1678. Robert Eley, son of Robert Eley I, and Jane were married only a short time when he died. She married a third time in 1680 to John Roberts and in the marriage record she was listed as sister of Richard Bracewell. This was probably due to her father, Rev. Robert Bracewell, being dead at this time.

Jane made her will on June 26, 1711 and it was read on Aug. 24, 1713. She listed as son: Robert Eley, 100a, part of a patent granted to John Roberts and his wife Jane, July 20, 1680, on Beaver Dam Swamp; to grandson Robert Scott 100a on west side of Beaver Dam Swamp; to daughter Mary Parker, wife of William Parker, deceased, 100a on west side of Beaver Dam Swamp; to granddaughter Martha Sanders, 100a on west side of Beaver Dam Swamp; to Thomas Jones the land he bought of my brother Richard Bracewell; my daughter Rebecca Brinkley 5S; to daughter Jane Scott, one shilling; to son John Roberts; to son Thomas Roberts; make sons executors. (here the letter "a" obviously means acre). (Wills and Administration Isle of Wight, VA, Book 1, 1647-1800, p. 77.)

Jane Bracewell had sons by each of her three husbands. Her second marriage to Robert Eley II was for only about two years but they had one son, Robert Eley III. The lineage of Jane Bracewell Eley’s son, Robert III, is as follows:
