Dear Joe,
I believe I owe you an apology. After receiving your last letter about being in our area and maybe getting together, I wrote you telling you how thrilled we would be to have you and would work out whatever possible to meet. The letter was typed, sealed, and placed next to my typewriter to be mailed. Unfortunately, it got covered by papers, books, etc. and I did not discover that I had not mailed it until yesterday when I began moving a lot of my junk. Forgive me if it caused you any inconvenience and allow me to extend to you once again an invitation to our home anytime you can arrange it.
I do have some good news to send to you. On one of my recent trips to Macon Library, I came across a paper on the Lineage of Jacob Thomas Braswell by Viola Vick Braswell. You had mentioned this in some of the information that Lynn Bracewell had given you. That was several months ago and it never occurred to me to check the library to see if they had the paper. I found it by accident when looking for something else. Viola's paper was done in the 1960's and confirms much of what we already knew but since she lives (lived?) in Nash County, N.C. she was nearer the original homeland and had access to original papers. I have reworked the information we have on Robert, Parson, and Robert, Jr. to include what she had but we did not and am mailing you a copy. Excuse the paper. It was done on an old machine in our office. Will send better copies later.
I think we can be very proud of our old patriarch. He seemed to have been well-educated, well-liked, and from an inventory of his property, well-fixed.
I don't recall if I sent you a copy of what I have done on the Bacon's Rebellion. At any rate, I have reworked it and this is the latest revision.
You might be interested in knowing a little more about the paper written by Viola Vick Braswell. She did the research for her husband who was a descendant of Jacob Thomas Braswell, apparently of Nash County. Her research, as ours, began with Rev. Robert Bracewell, then his son Robert, Jr. Robert, Jr. had sons: James, William, and our line Richard II. She traces the line of William. This is very helpful in that it allows us to eliminate names that are not in our direct line. Particularly with all of the Richards, Roberts, Wms, Jacobs, etc.
I plan to return to Macon tomorrow to continue my research. Hopefully I will be able to find the answers to a few questions and then we should have the first two Roberts covered. I may also try to copy Rev. Robert's will from microfilm. It is not clear but if I get a good copy I will send you one.
We will be having our Bracewell Reunion the first Sunday in April and I am really looking forward to it. You know since last years reunion I have been in touch with you and Charles Heath and have advanced our information on the family considerably. I appreciate very much the help you have given. I think we have shortened the time where we will have a good picture of the Bracewell Family by pooling our efforts.
I suppose you are also getting ready for your reunion. Convey to the Bracewells of Texas our love and interest and tell them that they will be a topic of our conversation at our reunion. If all of the Bracewells here in Middle Georgia were as ignorant of the Bracewell family as I, it will be a great revelation to know that we have a Texas clan.
Well, I had better close and get to work on my final exams. Keep in touch.
Yours truly,
(signed) Ronnie
P.S. I also sent copies of this information to Charles Heath.
