MEMORIAL----URIAH CLARK BRACEWELL
WHEREAS, The Great Judge of Heaven and Earth, did, on the 3rd day of Nov.,
1953, call from our midst, Rev. Uriah Clark Bracewell, known to all of us as "Hugh"; and
WHEREAS, Hugh was born in Grimes County, Texas, a son of Joseph and Emiline Bracewell, and lived many years of his life in the immediate vicinity of Mt. Pleasant, and was ordained a Baptist minister by the Mt. Pleasant Church at an early age, on the very site of this reunion, and
WHEREAS HE DISTINGUISHED himself as a Baptist Minister, serving as pastor of most all the rural churches in this area, and
WHEREAS, he was married at an early age to Alice Wells, who preceeded him in death, and is survived by his widow, and the following children: Mrs. Lillie Morgan, Mrs. Emma Heath, Mrs Betty Ackens, Mrs. Ophelia Isgitt, Mrs. Buna Smith, Mrs. Locy Turner, and U.C. Bracewell, as well as a host of grand-children, and
WHEREAS, HE WAS A PERSON WHO LOVED LIFE, AND PEOPLE, and was frequently the speaker at the Bracewell Reunion, and will be missed by all of us, and
WHEREAS, Bro. Hugh Bracewell, despite the many activities, was never too busy to answer the call and needs of his fellowman, whether it be preaching, performing marriage rites, or conducting funerals, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Bracewell Reunion to recognize and pay tribute to the service and useful life of this outstanding member, and leader, and to express our deepest sympathy to his family, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the Bracewell Reunion, most humbly express our deepest respect and esteem for Uriah Clark Bracewell, together with our sincere regrets at his passing, and forward to the family a copy of this resolution.
Unanimously adopted by a rising vote of the Bracewell Reunion June 6th., 1954.
