MEMORIAL------JOSEPH SEARCY BRACEWELL
WHEREAS, on the 30th day of November, 1965, the Great Reaper claimed by death, our beloved kinsman, Joseph Searcy Bracewell. He was the son of Joseph Benjamin and Mollie E. Bracewell , and was married to Lola Blount in Grimes County while teaching school in Roans Prairie, Texas. He received his law degree from Cumberland University and began the practice of law in Houston, Texas about 50 years ago, and
WHEREAS, Searcy was known among all of us as being a self made man and an attorney who left his mark on the City of Houston in many fields such as law, business, government, church affairs, public service-all of these were his specialities,
WHEREAS, Searcy's untimely death at the age of 73 years was a shock to each of us, however his love, affection and devotion for all his relatives and friends will be long remembered by all of us, and as the Houston Chroncile stated at the time of his death, in and editorial, "Searcy was a leader of vision, dedicated and an unselfish worker, one of the builders of the City of Houston, which will long remember him". Now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the Bracewell Reunion that we extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Mrs Lola Bracewell and to his two sons, Searcy Bracewell, Jr. and Fentress Bracewell and direct that a copy of this Resolution be sent the family and that the original be copied into the permanent minutes of the Reunion.
