WHEREAS the citizens of Bedias, and the community of Mt. Pleasant, and, more particular the Bracewell Reunion has lost another of its outstanding members. In the passing of Mary Leona Swanner Bracewell Rice on September 7, 1962, the community lost one of its pioneers, and most beloved friends, and
WHEREAS Mrs. Rice was a daughter of John Swanner and Mollie Busch, and was married to Walter W. Bracewell on September 27, 1903, to which were born the following children: Jewell Pepperman, Ruby Phillips, Earl and Raymond Bracewell, and one child that died in infancy. Uncle Walter preceded her in death on September 26, 1933, and
WHEREAS Aunt Tump, as she was known by most of us, was a devout Christian and worker in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for many years, she joined this church when she was sixteen years of age, and was baptized by Brother Dick Guerrant as were all the members of the Swanner family. She was a member of the Old Baptist Church at Bedias at the time of her death, and
WHEREAS Aunt Tump will be deeply missed by all of us. Her influence, her spirit, and her love will remain with us, and her husband always. She married Burbin Rice who survives her. Now, therefore be it
RESOLVED by the Bracewell Reunion that we extend our warmest and deepest sympathy to the immediate family and ask that a copy of this resolution be sent to each of her living children, and to Mr. Rice; and that a copy be made a permanent part of the minutes of this meeting.
