Please tell me, is Rev. Robert Bracewell's full name PARSON ROBERT BRACEWELL???? I have found a document with the name Parson Braieswell dated 1696 Isle of Wright VA. Please let me know, because I am confused as to whom I found.
Thanks....Kay Braswell Dawson

Kay,
I depends on who you ask. In my opinion records from multiple people have been morphed into one person called Rev. Robert Bracewell.

The facts as I know them, there is not any documents that have the name Rev. and Bracewell on them. There are several documents with Rob or Robert but the last name can be spelled anything from Braswell, Brasswell, Braieswell, an on...

In my opinion there is more evidence stating that Rev. Robert was in fact a Braswell spelling. This is not to be confused with the Robert Bracewell from London England who attended Hart Hall (Oxford).

As for the name Parson there are several opinions regarding this. Parson was used to signify clergy in the time and would have been used instead of Rev. (Rev. is more of a modern day term). Parson could also be a first name. To my understanding the name Parson is found only on one document regarding Robert and also has the surname of Braswell attached.

I have several of the Robert documents online for anyone to view and draw their own conclusions in the Bracewell Archive

One of the issues we face in genealogy is the lack or documents. Until more information can be obtained this question will remain a mystery.
