Share, Preserve, Educate
These three words are the foundation of the Bracewell family website. The site was created two years ago to preserve the family history for future generations. Today we are doing just that with over 115 documents and 1,800 pages of information that has been contributed.
The site attracts 70-100 unique visitors per month from all over the world including: Canada, England and the UK.
|
We have lots of room to grow.
Several new features are currently being tested. By next year we hope to bring video of the reunion to the web for those that cannot attend. Audio will also be available for download of favorite Bracewell songs.
The website depends on document contributions from family members. If you have any information that you would like to share arrangements can be make by calling Russell Bracewell at ****** or by email.

DID YOU KNOW: bracewellfamily.com has two sections. The first is a public section that is available to everyone in the world. In this section all personal information has been removed, and the number of documents is limited to protect our privacy. The second section is dedicated to the descendants of Joseph Marion Bracewell and is called the members section. The members section contains all the family history documents, complete Family Tree, and pages of documents written by family members.
You can access the member’s section at bracewellfamily.com by clicking on Members Login or you can skip the login by tying in ***** in the address bar.
Let us hear from you, take the online reunion survey at bracewellfamily.com...
What did you like and what can we do better.

This past year we have added more than 40 new members to the Bracewell Family Tree. We now have over 924 individuals dating back to Edmund Bracewell in 1530 from London, England. When printed the tree spans 30ft long and 2ft tall. An online version of the tree is also available on the website.
New information obtained through the Internet on Rev. Robert Bracewell and his ancestors. The Bracewell & Braswell clans have debated the spelling of Rev. Roberts’s name. Today we have confirmed that he entered Hart Hall on Feb. 22, 1627-8 under the name: Robert Bracewell, son of Richard, of London, Gentleman. He graduated on Nov. 3, 1631 at age 15. (Confirmed by Oxford University) Hart Hall was a private academic division of Oxford University and is now Hertford College. Rev. Roberts Burial place was also assumed to be at St. Lukes, but the curator of the church confirmed that the cemetery does not contain any Bracewells. Rev. Roberts’s ancestors have now been added to the family tree. His father was Richard Bracewell born 1585-1588. Richards’s father was Robert Bracewell born 1555. Robert’s father was Edmund Bracewell born 1530. All were born in London, England.
Joseph Marion's Military History: Joseph’s name can be found on the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors website along with 44 other Bracewells that served in the Civil War. He served in the 22nd and 39th Alabama infantry. Information on these regiments is available in the Biographies section of the master document book from Russell Bracewell and has been scheduled to be placed online. Further information is being researched and will be available soon.
Earliest known Bracewell Family Crest:
This crest was researched by family-crest.com and is the earliest known crest of the Bracewell family. Family crests were granted to distinguished families in the community. Due to the large number of family members and the lack of records it is unsure exactly were this crest fits into our family. We do know that this crest descended from Brochwel Yagrithog, ancient Prince of Powys Prince of Powys is located 188 miles north of London.
